John Penn Proclaimation |
The following proclamation by Lieutenent-Govenor John Penn offers a 200 pound reward for aid in bringing "a large party of armed men" to justice. Governor Penn makes it clear that the six Indians slaughtered at Conestoga Manor (this would have been the first killings on December, 14) had "lived peaceably and inoffensively" under the protection of government "on lands assigned to them
for their habitation." |
